Crafted by Kashan potters during the late Safavid period (c. 1700s), this collection of vases features the Persian invention of under glaze painting with cobalt blue ore. The bleeding quality reflects a Silk Road intermingling of influences between Chinese ceramics and the development of fine pottery in the Islamic World. The result is a wash of deep blue color, distinctive and visually dramatic.
