The Calligraphy Collection

LEVANT’s Calligraphy collection is inspired by 10th century glazed earthenware from Nishapur, Iran, renowned for the austere beauty of its Kufic calligraphy on ceramic. The Persian city was a significant political and cultural hub on the trade route of the Silk Road, which ran from China to the Mediterranean. The distinctive black-and-white ceramics produced in Nishapur during the medieval period are beloved by connoisseurs of Eastern design, considered some of the most original of Islamic pottery.
